MISSION

The mission of Atlanta Writers’ Society is to bolster a community of self-supporting artists for the purpose of refining their craft of creative writing. The Society intends to unify underrepresented performing arts writers and provide resources that foster collaboration, critical discourse and peer-on-peer tutelage. We dedicate our efforts to creating a supportive space for all voices to share their experience and contribute to the culture of local creative writers. This organization is organized exclusively for charitable purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

VALUES

  • Liberty - Society members are free to present any body of work and will never face any form of censorship.

  • Integrity - Non-consensual reproduction of intellectual property will not be tolerated.

  • Inclusivity - The Society will hold space for all individuals regardless of creed, race, gender, orientation or ideology.

  • Growth - The Society encourages the active production of literary works through the means of education, health-consciousness and/or meaningful challenge.

  • Collaborate - The health of The Society is contingent on individual selflessness. In an effort to strengthen our bonds, we support constructive criticism, mentorship, and the vulnerability required to share one’s work.

  • Community - The Society serves its members but offers no functional services itself; however, individual members may offer their service as they see fit.

VISION

Our vision is to provide the Atlanta performing-arts writing community with financial and educational resources that catalyze competitive representation in the creative writing culture of our communities.
